Chief Executive Officer
Larry E. Williams
Mr. Williams was most recently Vice President of Business Development at AmSafe Aviation in Phoenix, Arizona, the world’s largest manufacturer of aviation restraint systems. Prior to that and since 1995, he was Group President at Rural/Metro Corporation. From 1985 to 1995, Mr. Williams was Executive Director of the Emergency Response Training Academy, a firm specializing in training of airport emergency response personnel. Mr. Williams' interest and experience in aviation safety goes back more than three decades, and he serves as Chairman of the Safety Affairs and Training Committee of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association.
Mr. Williams holds a Bachelor's degree in Fire and Safety Engineering Technology from Eastern Kentucky University, and is a graduate of the Aviation Safety Program at the University of Southern California.
Vice President of Engineering
Frank Hoffmann
Mr. Hoffmann joined the BRS Team in January, 2006. He served with the German Air Force for a total of 13 years as a Technical Officer, and as head of the Technical Inspectors Group for the F4-F 'Phantom.' When he joined the German Federal Agency for Defense Technology and Procurement, Mr. Hoffmann served as Flight Test Director for all Manned and Unmanned Parachute Systems of the German Defense Sector at the Aeronautical Flight Testing Center in Manching, Bavaria. In addition to his primary occupation of heading BRS' Department of Engineering, Mr. Hoffmann also functions as the BRS Liaison to the German Aviation Authorities.
Mr. Hoffman specialized in Engineering Economics, and graduated in 1995 from the University of the German Armed Forces in Munich with a Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering.
Vice President, Operations
Dave Blanchard
Mr. Blanchard joined BRS in July 2007 with over 25 years experience in manufacturing, operations and accounting. Prior to joining BRS, he held general management and senior leadership positions at Andersen Windows, Steelcase Inc., Triangle Industries, and Amway Corporation. He has led significant lean transformations and change initiatives.
Mr. Blanchard holds a B.S. in Accounting from Ferris State University, and an M.B.A. from Western Michigan University. He is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt, and has completed senior leadership programs through the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities' Carlson School of Management.
General Manager, BRS Defense - NC; Pinebluff, NC
Norman Girdwood
Mr. Girdwood joined BRS in October, 2007 with over 20 years of parachute design, manufacturing, and testing experience. He started skydiving in high school, and after graduating, went on to become a pilot in the South African Air Force, flying a variety of tactical aircraft. Upon leaving the service, he worked for PISA (Parachute Industries of Southern Africa), where he designed and tested sport and military parachute equipment, along with a variety of other products. He was pivotal in obtaining TSO certification for PISA's sport parachutes, which is notable since no other skydiving sport parachutes had ever been certified outside of the United States. Mr. Girdwood also provided production support as PISA's Technical Manager before leaving this position and relocating to Tampa, Florida to join Aerodyne Research. Progressive responsibilites followed as Operations Manager for Sun Path Products (Zephyrhills, Florida), and later as President of Sun Path Contracting (North Carolina), a manufacturing facility for Sun Path's military equipment product lines.
Mr. Girdwood has two patents for parachute design to his credit, and has logged over 3,200 skydives, and 964 hours as a pilot.
Director, Materials Management
Ken Marek
Ken joined BRS February, 2000 after serving as a Product Planning Analyst for Damark International from 1999-2000, and as a Sales Support Manager from 1998-1999. Ken was also a Senior Merchandise Manager from 1978-1998 for JCPenney Company.
Mr. Marek earned his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Sioux Falls.
